Often taking the top spot on the list of highest-income zip codes, Jupiter Island has been attracting new residents dating back to the 1930s.

Originally, the homes that were built on Jupiter Island were relatively modest affairs--single-story winter retreats for American millionaires and their families. These were places that would equally welcome vacationing grandchildren or cocktail parties for visiting heads of state. Today, the homes on Jupiter Island are much larger, lavish and more elaborate, reflecting the taste of those desiring to own a piece of this oceanfront paradise.

The Town of Jupiter Island is situated on a barrier island that runs from the south end of Martin County to the Jupiter Inlet. The Town consists of approximately 1,643 acres of land bound on the east by miles of ocean frontage and on the west by the Intracoastal Waterway. Jupiter Island?s permanent population is almost 600, with a seasonal population just under 2,000.

One of Jupiter Island?s most surprising facets is its preservation of natural resources. In fact, after the residential development of secluded estates, the primary use of land is conservation/preservation. The few commercial land uses within the Town exist primarily to serve residents. The remaining vacant land is designated for single-family residential or recreational and conservation uses.
